Unclean But Not Unwanted

May 24, 2026 Speaker: Caldon Charles Series: Be Different

Verse: Leviticus 15:1–33

Pain has a deceptive nature - just because it quiets down doesn't mean it's gone. We convince ourselves that months or years of silence means healing, until one day it flares up again. This principle applies deeply to our spiritual lives, where we master the art of covering and pretending while deeper issues remain hidden.

Leviticus 15 addresses something deeply personal - bodily discharges - because God is holy and sets the standard for holiness. When Israel lived in God's presence, private issues became public concerns. God names what we would rather hide, calling conditions what they truly are: unclean. We're masters at renaming our spiritual conditions - bitterness becomes boundaries, pride becomes high standards, gossip becomes prayer requests, and conviction becomes feeling attacked. But God doesn't want to embarrass us by naming these things; He wants to cleanse us.

The sobering truth is that uncleanness spreads. What stays untreated in us eventually touches everything and everyone around us. Bitterness spreads to our children, unforgiveness leaks into new relationships, and unhealed hurt affects future connections. However, God never names uncleanness without providing a way back. Through Jesus, we see the beautiful transformation - where uncleanness once spread by touch, cleansing now moves by the power of His touch. The woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5 demonstrates this perfectly: Jesus not only healed her condition but restored her identity, calling her daughter. You may feel unclean, but you are not unwanted.
