Set Apart For Service: Experiencing God’s Glory

Verse: Leviticus 9:1–24
God's glory represents the holy worth of God made tangible—His majesty and holiness so real it demands a response. Like the weight of authority when a judge enters a courtroom, God's glory is that divine presence that makes Him undeniable among His people. Leviticus 9 addresses a crucial question: How can a holy God dwell among sinful people without consuming them? The answer comes through mercy in written form, teaching God's people how to approach Him safely.
Experiencing God's glory requires intentional preparation of the heart. This means coming with anticipation rather than casualness, arriving with repentance, being reconciled rather than bitter, approaching hungrily instead of distracted, and coming prayerfully rather than carelessly. Obedience plays an essential role—not as legalism to earn God's love, but as love made visible because God already loves us completely. The pattern in Leviticus 9 shows sacrifices first, then glory appears and fire falls. God will not light what we refuse to lay down, whether it's pride, control, comfort, sin, or fear.
Jesus fulfills this perfectly as our greater high priest and final sacrifice. Unlike Aaron who had to offer sacrifices for his own sins repeatedly, Jesus knew no sin and His sacrifice was complete. Through Christ, believers don't just experience God's presence among them—they carry His glory within them through the Holy Spirit. As glory-carrying people, believers are called to display reverence, humility, love, and mission, reflecting God's presence into the world and being transformed from one degree of glory to another.
