Trust God Even When You Don't Understand

Verse: Luke 1:26–38
The Christmas story reveals one of the most powerful examples of faith in Scripture through Mary's response to the angel Gabriel's announcement. When told she would conceive and bear a son despite being a virgin, Mary faced an impossible situation that challenged everything she understood about life. Yet her response demonstrates the kind of radical trust God desires from all of us.Gabriel's promises about Jesus seemed impossible but contained profound truths.
Jesus would be born through a miracle, ensuring He was sinless, divine, and human—perfectly qualified to be our Savior. He would be great enough to provide wisdom and peace in any situation, serve as the Son of God with all divine attributes, and reign as eternal King whose kingdom will never end. The angel's declaration that nothing is impossible with God provides the foundation for believing all these promises.Mary's faith teaches us how to respond when God's plans don't make sense to us. She couldn't understand how the promises would be fulfilled, why she was chosen, or find any previous example to build confidence on.
Yet she surrendered completely, saying 'Let it be to me according to your word.' We can follow her example by praying bold prayers, obeying God when we can't see the outcome, refusing to let fear rule our hearts, expecting God to work through us, and standing firm in hope. The same Jesus who fulfilled every promise made to Mary invites us to experience His faithfulness through radical trust and complete surrender.
