The Dividing Line

August 3, 2025 Speaker: Donnie Gardiner Series: Prove It

Verse: 1 John 5:6–12

First John 5:6-12 presents a stark contrast in a world that loves gray areas—the dividing line between the world and God is belief in Jesus Christ. This isn't about acknowledging historical facts but embracing spiritual truths: Jesus lived the perfect life we couldn't, died the death we deserved, and rose victorious, dividing our lives in two. God provides three witnesses to Jesus' identity: the water (His baptism), the blood (His crucifixion), and the Spirit who continues to testify today.

When we place our belief in Christ, our identity fundamentally changes. We are no longer sinners but saints, no longer condemned but forgiven, no longer in darkness but children of light. We receive eternal life that can be found nowhere else. This belief must take action—transforming how we treat others, especially those marginalized or difficult to love. We live on mission because our lives are no longer our own. The dividing line of belief should be evident in every aspect of our lives, from our decisions to our relationships, demonstrating that we have truly crossed from death to life through faith in Jesus Christ.
